Lesley Wieme

My name is Lesley Wieme, I am 22 years old and live in Pretoria, Sou

th Africa. I am studying Bcom Tourism Management (Hons) due to the fact that I am passionate about travel and adventures. I truly believe that the tourism sector is a fascinating industry to work in, more specifically, the airline industry. Bcom Honours in Tourism Management is instrumental in developing individual skills in each of us and its practical component useful for integrating our theoretical background into practice. In five years I would like to see myself working for a particular airliner or company wherein I can develop specific language skills, interact with people and see the world.

It will be the first time I’ll visit an exotic island such as Mauritius. I am very exited to visit and experience the great food, culture, and hospitality of the island, and hope that I can become an ambassador so more people can get to know this island which is well known for its friendly people and beautiful, heterogeneous environment. I am convinced that the best way to market a country is word of mouth. Furthermore, I would like to be able to compare MRU with other exotic islands, such as the Seychelles, the Maldives. Since our group project focuses on the hospitality sector, more specifically the broadening of SMME’s in MRU, it will be interesting to see whether there is a market for this particular segment and how this sector can be developed and/or expanded in the future. I am sure our trip to MRU will be lots of fun and will remain an everlasting memory.
